I found this article today, that really makes me wonder when a concept has gone too far. You be the judge. It was a list of the most bizarre restaurants in the world.
1. Cannibalistic Restaurant (Japan). It serves sushi and sashimi on a naked woman's body. The body is made from food and placed on an operating table. You can "operate" anyway and anywhere you want by cutting open the open and eating what you find inside. The body will actually bleed as you cut it and the intestines and organs are full editable. I was so grossed out - I could not bring myself to post any photos.
2. Toilet Restaurant (A chain of restaurants in Taiwan).
The seats are toilets with colourful lids. Food is served in bowls that look like toilets. Tables are converted
bathtubs and urinals as lamps. Another one that I just could not post without being crude. See The Food Monkey for images.
3. Dinner in the sky (Belgium).
This one serves dinner for up to 22 people ...150 feet in the air.
4. Dark Restaurant (China).
Completely Dark, where the waiters wear night vision goggles. The theory here is that by starving one sense the other senses are stimulated, so food will taste like its never tasted before.
5. Graveyard Restaurant (India)
This restaurant is build over a centuries-old muslim cemetery. Graves are scattered randomly across the restaurant.
6. Restaurant in a Prison (Italy)
Under the watchful eye of armed prison wardens, a 20 team of chefs, kitchen staff and waiters prepare and serve dinner to diners who have had to go through strict security checks. Imagine being served by someone doing life for murder. Supposedly tables are booked up weeks in advance.
