Malibu Rum Embraces Pop & Street Art

Malibu Rum recently came out a limited edition (only 100 bottles of each design) series of bottles with a street art influence. They are some great designs!

Since i'm talking about Malibu Rum, I have to say their previous tv ad campaign was always one of my favourites. They really got across the whole lifestyle idea (rather then directly using the product as a selling point) in a really fun series of commercials. They are all over youtube for anyone who has not seen them!

Burger King

Another company trying to be cutting edge and tapping into underground culture.  Visit www.burgerkingstudio.com to see designs or customize your own.

I actually gravitated towards the simple concept:

Scent air_ your fifth sense in marketing

A company called Scent Air has a concept called "Scent Marketing".  They believe that a customer's experience is enhanced by engaging memory and emotions through the sense of smell.

Some of their clients include: Westin, Mandalay Bay, Lexus to name a few. Another one that is mentionned is the new Simpson's ride at Universal Studios - which I got to experience firsthand this week. And I must say that it was very subtle, but I did notice it at the time and thought "Wow, they really did think of everything!!"

PR gas stunt gone wrong???

The PR department of EA games came up with a great way to generate head lines last week in the UK.

With fuel prices the way they are all over the world, EA desided to give away $35,000 worth of gas in one particular gas station, pumped by actors dressed like the characters from their new release Mercenaries 2.

Merc2gas2_opt   Concept was simple. Starting at 6am anyone pulling up to the pumps was given $40 worth of gas and sent on there way.

What wasn't expected was the complete chaos to follow.

The horns started almost instantly and driveways blocks away were all blocked in the grid lock!

The plan was to stay until the $35,000 was used up but after a few short hours the police had to come and shut everything down.

A simple PR stunt now has created a buz all over the UK and in blogs on the internet everywhere.

GREAT PR work by EA games.   They wanted people talking and they got that and didn't have to spend the whole budget either!

Nike Lobster SB Dunks.....

Nike is at it again with a very cool collaboration! The shoe, inspired by the seafood heritage of New England, will be available in a limited edition set, available exclusively at Concepts.

The first 200 pairs, which include the limited packaging, come equipped with a lobster claw rubber band, a tee shirt, a condiment box (which includes lobster shell cracker, fork, bib, an extra set of laces, and wet nap) and a poster, all put into a traditional paper bag used by typical, New England lobster retailers.

Lobster

I want them based solely on the PACKAGING they drop on May 31st.

KEEN BOOTS ON THE BRUCE

Check out KEEN Boots On The Bruce. This is a great example of taking the brands' mission and philosophy and making it into a marketing campaign.

KEEN is a brand about making a difference.  Their HybridLife slogan is CREATE. PLAY. CARE.  The Boots On The Bruce highlights all three. PLAY in the outdoors and discover the beauty of the Bruce Trail. CREATE in the outdoors and upload photos taken on the hike. CARE about the outdoors. KEEN Canada is donating $5 for every boot that walks the trail this summer.

KEEN didn't want to just write a cheque to the Bruce Trail Conservancy - they wanted to make it more interactive and educate the community at the same time.

The target goal is 10,000 boots on the trail, so if you live in the GTA - get out there and help make that happen.

Giant Bubble Bath_Sony's Marketing

Here is an example of some interactive (maybe considered Guerrilla) marketing by Sony.

Sony turned downtown Miami into an enormous bubblebath when it pumped 460 million liters of foam into the city streets and invited residents to play in it., with 200 of them filming their experience using Sony Cyber-shot digital cameras and camcorders.

What is kind of strange though - is the fact that it was conceptualized by Fallon London and the newly created 90sec spot will be airing on British TV. Why use the streets of North America?

Adobe's Creative Marketing Solution

3_3 4_2

So, how do you market a product such as Adobe Creative Suite 3 that is worth thousands of dollars?
With an awe inspiring, mind blowing - how did they do that - flash demonstration of what the program can do and basically whatever you can imagine, you can make reality.

Adobecards.com - Adobe Creative License. Take as much as you want. A very cool, complex, yet mini flash video that you control - Hence the "take as much as you want" concept.

It starts off with a loading time that is frowned upon. Takes a few minutes on broadband connection, but in all honesty it is worth the wait.

You control the movement of the movie by using your cursor. We'll I won't say much more. Just take a look for yourself.

Orkin

I hate bugs, so this grosses me out but I have to admit its a very smart idea.

A121

Signage for Orkin (Pest Control Service) was done in clear adhesive, overtime bugs god trapped to the adhesive and slowly formed the Orkin logo.
